"YOUR ABILITY TO GENERATE POWER IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR ABILITY TO RELAX."
Mindfulness and meditation were the last things on my mind when I first discovered David Allen some 15 years ago. At the time I was concerned solely with getting things done, which is the name of his book and his methodology of "stress-free productivity." The last thing I expected was that Allen's "GTD" system would include a spiritual side. It took a few years before this dawned on me. Who would have thought from a system about in-baskets and lists! Allen says "Your ability to generate power is directly proportional to your
ability to relax." You probably see where this is going!.
Check out the videos below — but first I must note that I, Bob Laycock, am not licensed, certified, approved, endorsed by or otherwise affiliated with David Allen or the David Allen Company which is the creator of the Getting Things Done® system for personal productivity. The following videos are three Ted Talks delivered by David Allen, followed by a segment from an interview with Jim Canfield. You can find more of this interview on my GTD page.
I hope this gave you a taste of the "Zen" of mastering work and commitments. If you'd like to know more about the practical mechanics of managing work that helps get you there, his book is an excellent "how-to" manual. Also check out his website.
